Summary

CusTimer is a timer app. We don’t create accounts and we don’t ask for personal information. Limited data may be processed by our service providers to deliver usage analytics (optional), crash reporting (Crashlytics), and ads (Google Mobile Ads). We don’t collect names, emails, or precise location.
This policy explains what data the app and its third-party services may process and the choices you have.

What we collect & why

1) Usage analytics (optional)

  • What: usage events (e.g., button taps, feature use), device type, OS version, app version, and country/region (non-precise). This data is tied to an app instance ID, not to your name or email.
  • Why: to improve stability and features.
  • How: Firebase Analytics.
  • Default:
    • UK/EEA: We ask first. Until you choose, no analytics events are sent.
    • Elsewhere: ON by default; you can turn it off anytime via Settings.

2) Ads (AdMob)

  • What: advertising identifiers, coarse location (region), device/OS/app info, and diagnostics required to serve ads.
  • Why: to fund the free app.
  • Consent & choices:
    • UK/EEA: We ask for consent on first launch. Until you choose, no ads are loaded.
      • If you consent to personalised ads, we show personalised ads.
      • If you consent but choose non-personalised, we show non-personalised ads.
      • If you do not give consent, we do not show ads (we may show Google’s Limited Ads in future if implemented).
    • Elsewhere: Personalised ads may be ON by default. You can switch to non-personalised at any time in Settings.
  • Controls in the app:
    • UK/EEA: Settings → “Manage ad privacy choices” (opens the consent screen to change/withdraw consent).
    • Elsewhere: Settings → “Personalised ads” (toggle).
  • Remove ads: a one-time in-app purchase (£0.99) hides the bottom banner ad (see Purchases).

3) Purchases (Remove Ads – £0.99; Extra Pack – £2.99)

  • What: purchase status/entitlement, transaction token/ID, country, and error codes as provided by Google Play Billing.
  • Why: to unlock paid features (Remove Ads or Extra Pack) and to restore them later.
  • Notes: We do not collect or store card details—billing is processed by Google. If a purchase is refunded or revoked, features may re-lock. Entitlements are tied to your Google account and can be restored on eligible devices.

4) App preferences

  • What: your local settings (e.g., theme, colours, font, alarm, presets, analytics/ads toggles).
  • Where: stored on your device (SharedPreferences).
  • Why: to remember your choices.

5) Crash reports (Crashlytics)

  • What: crash logs (e.g., stack traces, device type, OS version, app version, state at crash).
  • Why: to detect and fix crashes.
  • How: Firebase Crashlytics.
  • Notes: Crashlytics does not include names, emails, or precise location. Reports are always sent when a crash occurs; you cannot disable this in Settings.

Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Consent: usage analytics; personalised ads (UK/EEA).
  • Legitimate interests: app security, crash reporting (Crashlytics), fraud prevention, and basic app delivery; (outside the UK/EEA) serving non-personalised ads if you select them.
  • Contract: processing purchases and delivering the ad-free feature.
  • Roles: For AdMob, Google may act as an independent controller for certain ad data. For Firebase Analytics, Google generally acts as a processor on our behalf.

Data retention

  • Analytics/ads events: retained by Google per their standard retention windows.
  • Purchase entitlement: kept as long as needed to provide Remove Ads.
  • Local settings: remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall.
  • Crash reports: retained by Google/Firebase per their retention schedule.

Your choices & rights

We don’t run user accounts or cloud databases and we don’t keep information that directly identifies you on our servers.

In-app controls

  • Analytics: Settings → Usage analytics (off = no events sent).
  • UK/EEA ad consent: Settings → Manage ad privacy choices (change/withdraw any time).
  • Outside UK/EEA ads: Settings → Personalised ads (toggle PA/NPA).
  • Remove Ads: Settings → Remove Ads (£0.99); Restore purchases is also available.

Device & platform controls

  • Advertising ID: Reset your device’s Advertising ID in Android settings (limits ad tracking).
  • Clear local data: Uninstall or clear app data to remove on-device preferences.
  • Google Play purchases: Manage refunds/receipts via Google Play (Purchase history).

Data held by Google
Some data for ads is controlled independently by Google (AdMob). To access or delete that data, use Google’s privacy tools (e.g., Ads Settings / Google Account). For Firebase Analytics, turning analytics off in the app stops further analytics events. Crash reports are handled by Firebase Crashlytics and retained per Google’s policies; turning analytics off in the app also disables Crashlytics reports. You cannot directly view or delete individual crash logs.

Children

CusTimer is not directed to children under 13 (or the local age of digital consent). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Security

We rely on trusted providers (Firebase/Google) and reasonable technical measures. No method is 100% secure.

International transfers

Providers may process data globally. Where required, appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) apply via those providers.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted in-app and by updating the date above.
